The young guy who recently took up sitting in front of
the local Salvation Army building near me has now been joined by (an obviously
like minded) girl. Someone also brought a dog along, who has also now joined
them. The guy and girl alternate holding up a sign with the
word Karma on it.
Since there are a few locals who have taken up places and
claimed specific corners as their own, I am jaded now and cynical about them,
particularly when I regularly see them at the local Bank branches.
With this pair, I can’t help but wonder Who’s Karma? I
am tempted to think it is theirs. However, of course, it could just as easily
be mine…and yours…they are suggesting we be mindful of.
After seeing ‘what goes around comes around’ in action
in a few instances, I find it hard to believe that God, the universe etc.,
whatever is in life that brings order and gives meaning, permits anyone to ever
‘get away with’ abuses, mistreatment, theft of someone else’s belonging,
cheating, lying or any other of the harmful and saddening things that people do
to each other.
As my late husband once said, there isn’t any ‘trying
to be honest’, you are or you aren’t. I like the lack of equivocation about
this statement.
Nevertheless, whether our conscience is our moral
compass and guides us on a level and right course or whether as some believe
Karma will come to all of us and get us to work on unresolved problems in our
being; I truly believe you get back as good as you give.
Since Christmas is fast approaching, whether you are
young enough to worry about whether Santa Claus is watching if you are good or
bad, or whether no one at all is watching, you behave the way you do because of
who you are.
Karma can be a Bitch or a blessing but it surely will
be consistent with what you deserve and it may be wise to be mindful that in
the cycle of life, what goes around seems to come around, as the cycle of life
proceeds.
