Doesn’t it just drive you crazy sometimes when you feel
like you aren’t getting anywhere? It’s almost like you are running on the spot,
or trying to go up a down escalator.
Fortunately life has a habit of changing again. We often find that when we least expect it we feel somehow we are back on track. Usually this is as
unexpected as when we wondered how we found ourselves feeling stuck in a rut.
When all around you, everything seems to be stalled or
has taken on the appearance of not going anywhere fast, this is when you might need to curb your impatience by going through the motions, or whatever else it
takes to get what you need to get done that day. Sometimes in life this is what we have to do for a while.
Most of us in North America by mid-February are ready to
scream with frustration at winter weather which doesn’t seem to let up.
Walking
home next to piles of last week’s snow doesn’t help because in the city the
snow is not a beautiful white unbroken expanse that slowly covered the lawns
and streets; it is a half melted black mud pile stacked up at the corner with
ice patches still in place in some parts of the sidewalk and melted dirty water
near the curb.
I console myself that some reading gets done in winter
and that it is always nice to get home and warm up. I don’t think there is any
time of year that makes me appreciate my home more than winter, especially a
cold winter.
The positive this winter was the Sunshine we seemed to
have most days. However cold it often was, waking up to sunshine day after
day was a big boost to our morale. You knew it was winter, but somehow with the
sun shining you at least felt it couldn’t be so bad, especially when you were
walking on the sunny side of the street.
Spring is almost starting to take over and we all feel
our weather is heading in the right direction. Because of this, we are
encouraged to feel that we will soon step forward again. It cheers us up and likely
will keep us going forward for the short time more we need to put winter behind
us for another year.
Be of good cheer. A little bit of running on the spot, puts
us in place to move ahead again energetically and appreciatively when spring
gives us it’s green light.
